Life and Teaching of the Masters of the Far East is a compilation of six books which the author Baird T.Spalding wrote during his lifetime. Volume 1 is published in 1924. Because of the great success the author picked up his other writings and published his second book, Volume 2 in 1927. Volume 3 was published in 1935. These three books containing the story. The fourth and fifth Volume is a résumé of a 30 city-tour the author made because of the overwhelming success. Volume six is made up of eighteen articles by Baird T.Spalding with questions and answers, taken from Mind Magazine, 1935-1937, and a contemporary biographical sketch of Spalding. Also included is a special section of photographs of the author and the India Tour Group.

Life and teaching of the Masters of the Far East tells us a story about eleven scientists who have met the Masters of the Himalaya mountains. During this trip at the end of the nineteenth century, they had the privilege to walk along the enlightened Masters and witnessed the masters accomplish things that in the worldly mind of today would’ve been seen as miracles and hocus pocus. The Masters walk just like Jesus over water, feed a hungry crowd and walk through fire without having any injury. Later on Jesus and Buddha visits the group and they explain some misunderstandings about their lives.

The book contains messages which the Masters dictated themselves to the group. These messages explain the way to the Christ-consciousness and the misunderstandings about Christ the world believes today. The Masters say Buddha is the way to the Christ, but Christ is the Light or a state of consciousness which is the destination for all mankind. The author nor the group changed the messages of these great Masters. Also, the Masters helped themselves with the translations of old manuscripts which are also included in the book. These scripts containing information about the search and finding of the Light within.

The critics say that this story didn’t really took place, and in fact is a fictional story, invented by the author, however it is clearly mentioned in the book that the events really happend. Let us keep this aside. Everybody who have read these books can’t deny that it is full of deep spiritual wisdom about Life itself. This compilation includes an accurate description of experiences with the Christ-consciousness which I have experienced myself. These are not vague feelings, but deep sensed joy, happiness and the discovering of an infinite Life within my own consciousness.

Life and teaching of the Masters of the Far East is a book of Wisdom and Revelation. All people who have read this book claims a changed perspection of life.

“If a race or nation refuses to let go of things created by a portion of human thought instead of that which really exists, the Law takes a hand in its progress by allowing the accumulated vibrations sent out by such a condition to reflect back upon itself through the light ray. Then with war, strife, discord, and death on every hand, that race or nation is wiped out, in order that it may be placed again in a new up-lift of creation. Thus it can begin over again in a new contact with that which was before the beginning of human consciousness. Civilization today is fast approaching a great reconstructive moment. All things that seem so stable and well-founded now will soon be immersed in a state of inversion. Every tree that has not been planted by Truth will be uprooted. There is approaching a complete cosmic overthrow of the present social, political, financial, and religious institutions that will make room for the placing of the new era in order that humanity may come in closer touch with that which is and was established before the present human consciousness submerged and set it aside. Truth waits on with attentive, loving, and radiant beneficence until man will see that he can embrace and become the consciousness of that which has always existed.”

“Humanity is taking a forward step from the cradle stories of the former generation and their creations are no longer of any avail to the arisen individuality and spiritual discernment of the consciousness of the generation that is fast approaching. Delusions, traditions, and superstitions are nearing the end. It is also true of the civilization which they established. The old idols are good enough for the infantile consciousness that is nearing an impasse. Their delusion has caused their undoing as they are proved to be only cradle stories woven by a master-craft of priesthood and preceptor to lull into false sleep the crying infants of an evolving race. Those who saw further afield did not cry and thus were not lulled to sleep. Most of them saw that the cradle stories were not true and many stepped boldly forth to erase the untruth; as they saw directly through to the Absolute, that which has always existed and which has always been seen and known the contacted directly by a portion of mankind. From this portion there will arise a new and more vitalizing consciousness, fully awake and ready to erase the idols that man has set up for his fellow man to follow and make room for the new ideals which are as old as creation’s dawn.”

How can I become conscious of the One Spirit?

I’ll try to explain this to you the way it is explained to me. On a beautiful night when I was looking at the stars a  ‘voice’ within myself said: “Pick a star.” I picked the brightest star and the ‘voice’ started to tell. Here is what I have received:

“To you the star seems far away because the human mind thinks that you are only your body with a mind, on this moment looking at a star that seems far, far away. In reality it is the one Spirit which expresses itself as you, as a human being and as a star. Consider then that for your physical body, your shoulder and your foot are equally far, because your body expresses itself as a shoulder and as a foot. You will understand that the infinite `body’ or Spirit of God fills up all space. For God everything is equally far because God IS everything and thereby the thought of space disappears. When you understand this, you will understand the deeper meaning of the words: I Am.”

This way I started to understand the unity of the universe, but to understand this completely you have to experience it for yourself. In this experience you are suddenly no longer a being that has a body but you see yourself as an infinite Spirit which expresses itself true your body and consciousness. Jesus illustrated this understanding with the following pronouncement: “I and the Father are one.” It is for the human being to understand that they are always one with this infinite Spirit and can’t be under no circumstances be separated of this Spirit, only by the human limited thinking.

Why are many people not yet aware of the Spirit?

When men still thinks in terms of ‘materialistic thinking’ it is rather difficult to imagine himself as an expression of the One Omnipotent Spirit. You’ll think as yourself as a body with a mind instead of the One Spirit which expresses Himself true all creatures. Look at the universe with his many stars and planets and then look to the smallest flower which you can find in the field. Can someone deny that there is an Intelligence which controls everything in detail and that this Omnipotent Intelligence must be one and the same which created the whole universe? Consider that infinite Love is the most important characteristic of this Principle. Why is it so hard for the human being to surrender to this One Love instead of keep on living in a world with suffering until they realize that there is a higher life’s purpose. This can only be explained that man does not know about this true Life that will only be found within themselves. Without a doubt there is an evolution until mankind comes to a higher consciousness, namely the Christ - consciousness.

When can I experience the Christ - consciousness myself?

There will be a moment that the seed will burst and the plant (the Christ) come to a manifestation on Earth. Only this way the Kingdom of Heaven will rise on Earth (no one comes to the Father except through me, John 14:6) You don’t need to learn difficult lessons or meditate hours a day to achieve the Christ consciousness. You only have to know and experience that you are the expression of God and let the Light shine in all His glory. Be still, and know that I Am God. Again, you don’t have to detain yourself of things you’ll find in the world. Jesus said: “Ye shall learn the truth and truth will set you free.” I never detained myself of something nor had many meditations. However I had a strong impulse to know the Truth and nothing else but the Truth. This way, I became more conscious of who I Am instead of who I thought I was: the ego. Step by step I learned the wisdom of Life. Not an outer Life with his many creatures (this is just the image) but an inner Life. I truly wish I could let you join this joy and hapiness which I have experienced. All the personal desires that the world would call ‘sin’ dropped off me when I learned the Truth. Then, you also will see the more fine vibrations (Heaven) within and all around yourself. It will solves immediately all the things that are not in harmony with Light. It is the Truth that will set you free! Meditation can help certainly to become aware of the inner dimension, but it is no obligation. You will feel for yourself what will help you best on that moment.
